Sudhir and Deepti, who had a love marriage in 2003 started having family feuds on almost daily basis. Sudhir was working as a driver for tourists in Karmajhari, Pench. Deepti managed the family owned stationary shop on Manewada Cement road.

During the closed Safari season from July to September, Sudhir had taken up thermocol work.

Police said, this year's income from the thermocol business was only Rs. 60,000 which was less than what he had earned last year. His wife Deepti was not satisfied with the amount of income.

Deepti also kept demanding transferring their stationery shop in her name from her father-in-law's name. Sudhir never supported that.
