IND vs BAN, 1st Test, Day 1, STUMPS: India 278/6 as Shreyas Iyer carries his bat on 82

It's Stumps on the opening day of the first Test between India and Bangladesh. This was an even-steven day for both the sides as India scored 278 runs while lost 6 wickets in the process. Shreyas Iyer has carried his bat unbeaten for 82 while Pujara got out after playing a 90-run knock. Just before the day was called, Axar Patel also fell, giving a boost to Bangladesh at the end. India lost Gill and Rahul early, while Kohli also could not create a big impact today. Pant and Pujara took the charge together when India were 48/3 but soon the former fell when the team was on 112. Then the duo of Pujara and Iyer took India to a decent score before losing wickets at the end. This pitch has assistance for spin bowlers and the new ball was also spinning. 278 looks good and India would want to add as many as they can before bringing Bangladesh to bat. It's Tea Time in Chattogram. India would be happy with this session. They lost only one wicket in the form of Pant. Iyer and Pujara looked solid on major occasions. They have brought up the fifty-run stand. The Bangladesh spinners also had some chances but they were not taken completely. Its Lunch on Day 1 and India are 85/3. Not a perfect morning session for the Men in Blue as they have lost Gill, Rahul and Kohli. Taijul got the wickets of Gill and Kohli, while Khaled got Rahul. There is spin on the surface and the batters are being cautious of that. However, Pujara and Pant have seen the morning session and the latter is playing his expressive brand of Test cricket. Taijul Islam has got another one and this time it's the big wicket of Virat Kohli. This one was pitched at good length on leg stumps and spun away from the right-hander a little bit. And Khaled has got the Indian skipper. This was a good length delivery as Rahul wanted to guide the ball on the off side but gets an under the edge and the ball rolled to the stumps. Virat now joins Pujara.

Shubman Gill has to depart after poor choice of shot and it's first blood for Bangladesh

It should be encouraging signs for the Indian spinners as the ball is keeping low. Spinners to work in India's favour? May be Yes!!
