Andhra Pradesh unit of BJP on Wednesday alleged that Hindu youths were being harassed by Congress-led state government on the diktat of Majlis Ittehadul-Muslimeen (MIM) post-communal clashes in old Hyderabad recently.

Demanding a judicial inquiry into the affair, party's state unit president and MLA G Kishan Reddy told reporters  that hundreds of innocent Hindu youths associated either with RSS or BJP, are being picked up from their houses at nights by the police.

The state BJP chief claimed that of the 300 persons arrested in connection with communal clashes, over 200 were Hindus.

Accusing that the police was acting partially against the Hindus, the BJP leader alleged that City Police Commissioner A K Khan too had become a "puppet" in the hands of MIM.

Stating that Hindu families have been vacating their houses from old city due to fear and police harassment, Reddy alleged that state Congress government was playing vote bank politics and is under pressure from MIM.

Rosaiah government has not yet announced any ex-gratia to the kith and kin of family of three persons killed in the communal clashes, he said.

He said the party would hold protest rallies against police harassment on April 17.

The BJP leaders today approached Meena, the widow of Taneja who was killed in a stone pelting incident in Mustaidipura area, for the help.

Meena, a mother of three children in the age group of 1 to 3 years, urged the state government to help her by providing a job to look after her children. PTI
