A Boat carrying more than 40 people, most of them students, capsized in Gautami river in East Godavari district of Andhra Pradesh on Saturday afternoon.
The boat capsized after it reportedly rammed into a bridge’s pillar.
Rescue teams belonging to the National Disaster Response Force and the State Disaster Response Force rushed to the spot and carried out rescue operations.
The Gautami river is a tributary of the Godavari.
At least 10 people are said to have been rescued by locals while efforts were on to trace the others.
10 people are still missing, according to news agency ANI.
Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu asked directed district officials to step up rescue operations.
