In the video, these individuals are seen dancing and rejoicing with firearms in their hands, while a Bollywood film song plays in the background.

India TV did fact check

When we closely examined this video, we extracted some frames and then searched them using Google Lens. In the search results, we found some videos that had been uploaded on YouTube. One of these videos was uploaded on the Pukhtoon Zalmy channel on June 1, 2021. The title of the video reads: "Pathan attan with weapons | marwat dance | pashto dance 2021." The video's description mentions, "Dance with weapons 2021."

After that, we searched for "marwat dance" on Google and found that the Marwat is a significant Pashtun tribe. They have their own distinct cultural dance, which is quite similar to the Wazir dance but can be performed by a large number of participants in a circle or individually. This confirmed that the viral video is from Afghanistan and not recent; it dates back to 2021.

The wedding video went viral

After further investigation, it was discovered that this same video had gone viral in 2021 with false claims. When the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, this video was circulated, claiming it was a celebration. Multiple fact-checks were conducted on this video during that time as well. Upon digging deeper, it was found that the man wearing a blue kurta in the video is named Wahab Pakhtoon. He had informed a media channel that this video was from the March 2021 wedding of his friend Rashid.

What came out in the fact check?

When we fact-checked this video, it turned out to be from the year 2021 and not after the recent World Cup match. Also, this is a video of a wedding celebration in Afghanistan.
