"He is talking about everything else, his work, his family, how much he loved Rehana but when we asked him specific questions he remained silent", said a police officer.

Haji Aleem denied that he wanted to sell his New Jaffrabad flat, where Rehana was staying. Police on Friday ruled out robbery as a motive behind the murder and said, some family members were the prime suspects.

"Only the ones who benefitted from her death or who would be saved from troubles with her death would kill the woman. Outsider's involvement is negative", said the police officer.

V V Choudhary, Additional CP, North Delhi said, some facts relating to the murder were now clear, but refused to elaborate. "The killer knew both Rehana and Haji Aleem and appeared to be close to both", he added.

Rehana (40), who was Aleem's second wife, was found murdered on Wednesday morning in their New Jafrabad residence. Aleem was out of India on Haj pilgrimage.

Haji Aleem, the MLA from Bulandshahr, did not turn up for questioning earlier, saying he was busy with the last rituals of his wife in UP.
