A fifty year old man allegedly drugged and later slit the throats of 10 members of his family before hanging himself to death in Uttar Pradesh’s Amethi district.
Murder-suspect Jamaludeen allegedly gave a sedative to the family after dinner on Tuesday night, saying it’s a medicine for good health during winter.
The incident happened on Tuesday night in Mahona West village. His jobless younger brothers, Samsudeen and Raees, were not at home.
The dead included Jamaludeen’s five daughters — Tabassum, Afreen, Mariam, Sania and Ujma.
Samsudeen’s 35-year-old wife Hussaina Bano, their daughters Rubina and Tahseen, and Raees’s daughters Mahek and Nijar Fatima were murdered too.
Jamaludeen's 40-year-old second wife, Zahida, and daughter Afsaar, 20, were sleeping in a room locked from inside. They were unhurt but disoriented, allegedly under the influence of the sedative that Jamaludeen gave them.
The brothers said Jamaludeen was mentally disturbed and often did strange things.
Additional SP of Amethi, T N Tripathi, said throats of ten deceased were found slit while Jamaluddin, the head of the family, was found hanging from the ceiling.
SP, SK Singh, said that everything will be clear after the postmortem reports. DIG Faizabad division R C Sahu and DM of Amethi C K Pandey also visited the spot.
