WI vs IND 2nd ODI Highlights: West Indies win by 6 wickets as Kohli, Rohit-sans India flop

West Indies handed India a 6-wicket defeat after bowling them out for just 181 in the second ODI as the series is alive at 1-1 going into the decider in Trinidad.

West Indies are closing in on a massive win against the Indian team after bowling them out for 181. After Kyle Mayers began in a scintillating manner, skipper Shai Hope provided the solidity with a well-compiled half-century.

Captain Shai Hope keeps West Indies on course of a much-needed win for his side after India messed up their batting in the first innings.

Team India stay in hope after Kuldeep Yadav got Shimron Hetmyer out. Following Shardul Thakur's triple strikes, Kuldeep in the middle of an exceptional spell bowled outstandingly well to mount pressure on Hetmyer before cleaning him up.

Shardul Thakur sprung the match back to life for the Indian team as he got back-to-back wickets of Kyle Mayers and Brandon King to give his side a sliver of hope after the West Indies got off to a rollicking start.

West Indies opener Kyle Mayers got his side off to a cracking start as he came out all guns blazing. West Indies scored their first fifty in just 8 overs as they are course to topple the Indian team.

Team India folded for 181 as West Indies bowlers led by Gudakesh Motie and Romario Shepherd's three wickets each were outstanding from the beginning. Apart from Ishan Kishan, who scored a fifty, no other Indian batter got going as the Men in Blue sans Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma failed to bat well.

The play resumed after rain once again and it didn't take much time for West Indies to get another Indian wicket as pacer Umran Malik attempted a big lofted shot but got out for a first-ball duck.

It's just not happening for India at the moment. Players are getting starts but are not able to convert them and stay for as long as they would have liked. Shardul Thakur after hitting a couple of boundaries got out just before the second rain delay as India lost their eighth wicket.

It's just not happening for India. The Indian team is losing wickets in clumps and they continue to do so. After both Suryakumar Yadav and Ravindra Jadeja delayed the wicket procession for a bit, they got out in a span of an over leaving India in disarray at 153/7.

India's tactics in the ongoing ODI series so far have been just bizarre. Players are playing out of position, some are getting chances who won't even be in the World Cup squad and the players who are a certainty are resting and the result is they are 113/5 against a team, which will not be in the World Cup. The rain has currently halted the play in Barbados and it might not be a bad time for them to introspect.

Team India's slide continued in the second ODI after the 90-run opening stand between Shubman Gill. Since then the visitors have lost five wickets for just 23 runs as now stand-in skipper Hardik Pandya and Sanju Samson got out after single-digit scores.

Team India has suddenly lost a couple of wickets in quick succession with half-centurion Ishan Kishan and Axar Patel, who got a promotion in the batting order dismissed. Skipper Hardik Pandya has joined Sanju Samson in the middle and will need to do the rescue job for the side.

India's young southpaw Ishan Kishan seems to have picked up from where he left in the first ODI and has notched up yet another half-century.

The pair of Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan has settled down well in the middle and would look to up the ante now. India 51 for no loss after 11 overs.

Indian openers Shubman Gill and Ishan Kishan have been extremely watchful to begin with as India have just put 20 runs on the board in the first five overs.

"We were looking to bat first. We want to see how much we can score on this pitch which is a bit up and down. Rohit and Virat have been playing constant cricket, few questions need to be answered for us so they are resting in this game. They can be fresh for the third ODI. I think when you get someone out for 115, it's a good effort from the bowlers. Our catching was impressive, but we can improve in certain areas. Instead of losing five wickets, we could have lost only two wickets and finished the last game. Sanju Samson and Axar Patel come in for Rohit and Virat.," Hardik Pandya 1says.

"We are going to bowl first, we saw what happened in the last game. The conditions will assist the bowlers. We got two games to play, so we got to win this one to stay alive. It has been a bit unpredictable. Both teams have to play on the same surface. We got to bowl first and put them under pressure. Powell, Drakes out, Alzarri Joseph and Keacy Carty are in," Shai Hope says.

West Indies have made two changes to their playing XI - Rovman Powell and Dominic Drakes are not playing and Alzarri Joseph and Keacy Carty have come in.

India have also made two changes. Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma have been rested and Axar Patel and Sanju Samson make their way into the playing XI.

Shai Hope wins the toss and has elected to bowl first. Rohit Sharma isn't playing today and Hardik Pandya has filled in for him as stand-in captain.

India would look to add to their dominant record vs the West Indies in ODIs. The two teams have played 140 matches against each other, with India winning 71 and the Windies emerging victorious in 63 of those contests. Two matches ended in a tie while four games couldn't yield a result.
