In his defense in Paula Jones case, Clinton denied any sexual relationship with Lewinsky. But it was Lewinsky's blue dress with Clinton's semen that shattered Clinton's testimony. Kenneth Starr concluded Clinton's statement to be fabricated and erroneous.
US House of Representatives issued Articles of Impeachment against President Clinton after which Senate initiated trial proceedings that continued for 21 days. But the trial failed to convict Clinton as all the Democrats in the senate voted for Clinton's acquittal on both the perjury and the obstruction of justice charges. Even Republican party was divided on this issue as 10 Republicans voted for Clinton's acquittal on perjury charges while five Republicans voted for Clinton's acquittal on the obstruction of justice charges.
Finally, President Clinton escaped impeachment and was acquitted of all the charges. President Clinton continued in office and successfully completed his full term.
