Socks, cellphones, cartons: Know how flyers are trying to smuggle in gold into India

The interception was carried on by custom officers who received information about  gold being carried on Singapore-Chennai-Mumbai Air India flight.

At Mumbai airport, Tanvir Ali, a passenger from Bangkok was found carrying 400 gm gold worth  Rs 10 lakh. Khalid from Sharjah had 580 gm of gold valued at Rs. 14.68 lakh.

Gold weighing 440 gm worth Rs. 11 lakh was found hidden under a carton carried by Abdul Mohammed.

Another passenger named Karar Hussein carried 8 gold bars weighing 932 gms worth Rs. 23 lakh.
