The Revenue Secretary said the biggest advantage of the GST was that there would be no different taxes between the state and the central government.
Adhia, who is spearheading implementation of the Goods and Services Tax (GST), said the finance ministry is gearing up for its roll out and five days training has already been given to officers.
Speaking at the Enforcement Day event here on Friday, Adhia said that these nine lakh firms are a ‘potential source of money laundering’.
Hasmukh Adhia informed that the services sector is likely to attract a higher tax rate of 18 per cent from the current 15 per cent under the GST regime, thus making services more expensive.
