According to the Rising Star Corps X handle, a search operation was underway in Kathua after establishing contact with the terrorists in the region. The officials said the killed terrorists were Pakistani citizens.
The operation, confirmed by Defence PRO Jammu, was initiated after intelligence reports indicated terrorist activity in the region. The forces have established contact with the terrorists, and the situation remains active as the operation continues.
Mangesh Yadav, a wanted gangster with a bounty of Rs 1 lakh, was shot and sustained severe injuries. He was admitted to the hospital where he died during treatment.
Firing was reported in Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri where terrorists were believed to be hiding.
During the recovery, the accused took out a pistol from the bag and opened fire on the police to kill and run away. In the retaliatory firing by the police, the accused was shot in the right leg.
With this, 145 Naxalites have been gunned down by security forces in separate encounters in Chhattisgarh so far this year.

The encounter between the security forces and the terrorists broke out in the Cheel area of Ramnagar in Udhampur on Monday.

The gunfight between terrorists and the Indian Army took place in the Ahlan area of Anantnag on Saturday where two terrorists were trapped, officials said.
