The accident occurred in Sangrah town around 8 AM. A private bus carrying students of DAV School, Renuka, fell into a gorge.
Over 30 passengers had a great escape when a bus skidded off a slippery, icy hill road and teetered precariously over a steep gorge in Jammu and Kashmir's Doda district on Monday, police said.
Around 80 people, mostly students of a coaching class in Surat, were travelling in the bus, which was on its way to Surat when the incident occurred on the Mahal-Bardipada road near Ahwa town, 380 km from Ahmedabad, on Saturday evening.
The bus was on its way to Poonch from Loran when the accident took place.
According to news agency ANI, rescue and relief operations are underway.
The incident took place around noon near Kanakanamaradi of Pandavapura taluk on Mandya district.
An eight-second surveillance video released by Chongqing city police on its Weibo social media account shows the two arguing and grappling with each other in the moments before the bus suddenly veered across oncoming traffic and off the bridge on Sunday morning.
The students, boarding the bus, were returning from an educational trip from Rajgir.
The bus was carrying over 30 passengers, he said, adding that the rescue operation was launched immediately after the accident.
The bus, carrying more than 40 passengers, was returning from Kondagattu to Jagital.
According to reports, the staff members of an agriculture university in Dapoli were going for a picnic when the accident took place.
The rescue teams have reached the spot and have started removing the debris. The locals, who reached the spot first, tried to topple the pieces of bus to rescue the injures.
The tour bus, carrying students to Haridwar, had run out diesel and was parked temporarily at the roadside to refuel from another bus when the roadways bus crashed into it. The bus crushed the tour bus passengers who were standing on the roadside.
"The information of deaths was wrong. Yes I said 27 people have died, it was based on info from local sources, but I also said that only final report will be considered", he said.
One of the buses was a private coach travelling from UP's Farrukhabad to Delhi, while the other bus was a Delhi Transport Corporation vehicle headed to Shahadra.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh for kin of the deceased and ordered an inquiry by the Gorakhpur commissioner.
Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur condoled the deaths and has announced Rs 5 lakhs each for the family of the bus accident victims.
The bus was travelling on the Sitamarhi-Muzaffarpur road when it smashed into a railing and rolled into a 20-feet deep pit.
District Magistrate Eva Ashish Srivastava said the incident took place at Potam, 120 km away from the district headquarters.
