Chennai, July 17: DMK today discussed the July 19 Presidential polls with party chief M Karunanidhi maintaining that the MPs and MLAs were told about the ways to implement the decision to back UPA nominee Pranab Mukherjee.
“The party has already decided about its support (to Mukjerhee). Party MPs and MLAs were told about the ways to implement this (by way of voting for him),” Karunanidhi said.
DMK was one of the first UPA constituents to back the former Union Finance Minister. After being officially nominated, Mukherjee kickstarted his presidential campaign from Tamil Nadu where Karunanidhi hosted a dinner for the leader.
DMK has 18 Lok Sabha and seven Rajya Sabha MPs besides 23 MLAs in the state Assembly.
