Bhopal: Unable to take care of her children  because of poor financial condition, a woman from Jabalpur killed her six month old baby girl and tried to mislead police by spreading rumors of her being kidnapped. The incident happened on September 7. A mother's lie was unheard-of; hence the police was in dilemma initially. Eventually on Wednesday, they confirmed that the woman was lying.

 
Police have arrested the accused Ritu Ahuja and recovered body of the infant.

"I was already having trouble in bringing up a two-year-old child and now with this baby it became extremely difficult for me to manage, she admitted before the police.
 
Superintendent of police, Jabalpur Harinarayanchari Mishra said, "Accused decided to kill the infant a night before. On Sunday when all members of the family went out for a morning walk, she took the baby from her cradle and killed her by drowning her into a water pool on a desolate lane."

On September 7, the six-month-old daughter of Ahuja family went missing from house.
 
Her mother Ritu claimed the baby was abducted by some unknown people who came on a motorcycle. Since then, police was investigating the case and trying to locate the abductors. Sources said based on CCTV footage of the area police doubted claims of Ritu. She later admitted to her crime when questioned by officials.
