On December 1, the accused father who was obsessed with gambling, shared a game with his neighbor Sukumar Mandal.
During the session, he lost everything and after he was left with nothing, he put his daughter at stake and unfortunately once again he lost.
A marriage was then fixed and the wedding preparations are on now. The girl who is a Class 8 student is being married to a man who is double her age. She stopped attending school after she was engaged to Mandal.
The Block Development Officer came into action after learning about the incident and sent a team to the village to investigate.
The district's social welfare officer has also been informed about the incident.
The BDO said, the families will be educated about the disadvantages of child marriage and they would be told that it was a punishable offence.
