Speaking at an all-party meeting on the session's eve, Modi again pitched for simultaneous polls for the Lok Sabha and state assemblies saying that holding elections once in five years will boost development.
Prominent among those who attended include NCP leader Tariq Anwar, TMC leader Derek O'Brien, NC's Farooq Abdullah, SP's Naresh Agrawal, RJD's Jaiprakash Narain Yadav, and CPI's D Raja.

In July, AG KK Venugopal had told SC that NRIs could not be allowed to vote by merely changing the rules and a Bill was needed to be introduced in Parliament.
While a final call is yet to be taken by the Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, two senior government functionaries said the session could be held in November end and may last a week or ten days.
The winter session of Parliament is ending today though the chaos continued to reign in both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha yesterday following continuous uproar on issues such as demonetization and Agusta Westland case.
