"India does not believe in war, but in peace. India's concept is clear - this is not an era of war. This is the time to come together to deal with those challenges which pose the biggest threat to humanity," said PM Modi in Warsaw.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi paid homage to the memorials of Jam Saheb of Nawanagar, Monte Cassino and the Kolhapur Royal Family after his arrival in Poland. He is the first Indian leader to visit Poland in 45 years as the countries celebrate the 70th anniversary of diplomatic ties.
India welcomed thousands of Polish children escaping Soviet repression during World War II. These children were later shifted to Valivade camp in Kolhapur, and the memorial in Warsaw was set up by the people who spent their childhood there.
PM Modi paid homage at Warsaw's Good Maharaja Square, dedicated to Jam Saheb Digvijaysinhji, who offered refuge to Polish children escaping from the Soviet Union during World War II. He will also visit the Monte Cassino Memorial and the Memorial to Kolhapur family.
