Live Cricket Score, India vs West Indies, 1st Test, Day 3 Live: India eye early win with Windies 185/8 at Tea

India vs West Indies, 1st Test, Day 3 Match Highlights: India have earned their BIGGEST EVER WIN IN TEST CRICKET, in terms of runs. It could not have started better for the visiting side. Coming on Indian soil, then striking in the first over. But after that, it just got pear-shaped. Prithvi Shaw's attack put them on the defensive and they simply could not get going. Keemo Paul breaking down before Lunch on Thursday did not help matters either and as a result, they saw 3 centurions, a 90-odd and an 80-odd. Test match is a test of patience but they were hardly tested. Shami struck early with the new ball in the first innings and then Ashwin got 4 more because of his guile than the pitch. This Test match result cannot come in any better manner for the Indian side. They have just come from a gruelling Test series in England with the batsmen not making runs and the spinners struggling. Back home, both the negatives have been converted into positives and all of a sudden, the mindset is double positive, which will not do them any harm before their tour to Australia. Highlights, India vs West Indies, 1st Test, Day 3 Live from Rajkot:

* It could not have started better for the visiting side. Bishoo did get a 4-fer but was not that threatening.

14.51 IST: India (649/9d) beat West Indies (181 & 196) by an innings and 272 runs in Rajkot to take 1-0 lead in 2-match series

14.50 IST: OUT! That ends the Test match. Thank you for watching. India have earned their BIGGEST EVER WIN IN TEST CRICKET, in terms of runs. Full and on middle, Gabriel tries to repeat what he did on the third ball but this time there is a man near the ropes. Kuldeep Yadav is the man at the fence and he takes a decent catch. INDIA WIN BY AN INNINGS AND 272 RUNS!

14.49 IST: FOUR! WI 196/9 in 50.3 overs

14.47 IST: DROPPED! That was a sitter. Full and outside off, Dowrich lunges to defend but the ball spins in, takes the inside edge and flies straight to Prithvi Shaw at short leg. However, he is perhaps too eager to take the winning catch and fumbles.

* Shannon Gabriel is the last man in. How long is this match gonna last?

14.46 IST: OUT! Jadeja removes Lewis for 4. Dead plumb. The strength of Jadeja is that he keeps his line straight. This is pitched around leg and Lewis attempts a wild slog. However, he misses as the ball spins away and is hit on the pad. Jadeja appeals and up goes the finger. Lewis does not even bother reviewing. WI 192/9 in 49 overs

14.36 IST: FOUR! Lewis is off the mark. Nice way to get his innings started. Carrom ball gone wrong and Lewis gets his boundary. Short ball on off, Lewis pulls it through square leg to the fence. WI 189/8 in 45.5 overs

* We are back for the final session of the day. Perhaps, what should be the final session of the match. Shane Dowrich and Sherman Lewis stride out to face the Indian spinners. Ravindra Jadeja will bowl the first over post Tea.

14.18 IST: West Indies 181 & 185/8 at Tea against India (649/9d) in Rajkot. Powell 83, Kuldeep 5/57

14.12 IST: OUT! Fantastic review from Pant and India! Windies are 8 down. The Indians are all smiles. Especially Ashwin. The keeper was the only person confident while the others were just joining in. Coming to the ball, it is down the leg side and Bishoo looks to sweep it fine. However, he misses. Now, Pant hears something and instantly appeals. WI 185/8 in 44 Overs at Tea

14.03 IST: FOUR! BRILLIANT! Full and outside off, Bishoo drives it past the bowler and beats mid off! WI 176/7 in 41 Overs

14.00 IST: OUT!Another gift of a wicket. That Sunday holiday seems to be more inviting to the Windies than us. Tossed up outside off, Paul looks to add to the tally of the sixes of his team. But there is a man placed at long off. Straight to Umesh Yadav. Sigh. Really pitiable.  WI 172/7 in 40.4 Overs

13.56 IST: FOUR! The shots keep coming... Full and outside off, Paul clobbers it over mid-wicket for another boundary. WI 172/6 in 38.2 Overs

13.53 IST: SIX! SMASH! Number 7 in this innings. Full and outside off, Paul goes downtown and sends this into orbit. Over long on. WI 163/6 in 37.2 Overs

13.48 IST: FOUR! Full and outside off, Paul gets down and sweeps it through mid-wicket for a boundary! He has been doing that all morning. WI 155/6 in 35.5 Overs

"Keemo Paul is the new man in at number 8. Given the way he batted this morning, one could either the score rocket skywards till he is there. On the flip side, the seventh wicket might not be far away either.

13.45 IST: OUT! Edged and taken! MAIDEN TEST FIFER FOR KULDEEP! Number 6 is down and this one is of the set batsman - Powell. A beautiful ball. After the long hop on the previous ball, Kuldeep bowls this much fuller and the line is on the stumps. Kieran presses forward to defend but the ball spins away and goes straight off the face of the bat. Where? To the debutant standing at silly point. Prithvi Shaw is alert and takes it well. Fine knock from Powell, deserved a century. WI 151/6 in 35.4 Overs

13.42 IST: A tight over from Jadeja just two runs from it. WI 146/5 in 35 Overs

13.26 IST: OUT! Half the side down. Seems like someone has told them to get these runs today itself. Another loose shot. Full and outside off, Chase leans to drive but does not bother to keep it down. Lady Luck does not bother to keep him on the field. Straightforward catch to Ashwin at cover. Kuldeep cannot control his laughter. This is silly cricket. WI 138/5 in 29.3 Overs

13.24 IST: FOUR! Poor, poor ball from Yadav and gets punished. Short ball on middle and leg, Chase rocks back and pulls this through square leg for a boundary. Shaw was lucky as he ducks at short leg to evade the ball. WI 138/4 in 29.2 Overs

13.22 IST: FOUR! Chase takes over Jadeja and smashed him for a boundary. WI 133/4 in 29 Overs

13.10 IST: FOUR! Just over! Full and outside off, Chase looks to go inside out but is not quite to the pitch of the ball. WI 116/4 in 26 Overs

13.05 IST: SIX! What a shot. Full and around off, Powell comes down the track and sends it sailing over the ropes. WI 110/4 in 24.3 Overs

13.01 IST: FOUR! Short and outside off, Powell pulls it over mid-wicket and finds the boundary. Aerial shots are being played so consistently. WI 102/4 in 23 Overs

12.57 IST: OUT! Stumped! Oh dear. Oh dear. Oh dear. What on earth is happening? Poor Windies. This bloke has faced just 2 balls and he is jumped out on his third. WI 97/4 in 22.4 Overs

12.55 IST: OUT! Another one bites the dust. The Windies are wasting the decent start. They were 79/1 and now find themselves 97/3. They are playing positive cricket but are losing wickets. Kuldeep tosses this one on middle and leg, Hetmyer looks to goes on side but gets gets a leading edge towards point where Rahul takes a good low catch. WI 97/3 in 22.1 Overs

12.49 IST: FOUR! Just wide of the slip fielder. Opens the bat face and plays angles this towards third man for a boundary. Powell completes his half-century with that boundary. WI 92/2 in 20.3 Overs

12.47 IST: SIX! There goes Hetmyer! Has just come in and Hetmyer has smoked this over the bowler's head. Picks up the straighter one and hits it straight back for a big hit. WI 88/2 in 20 Overs

'Shimron Hetmyer is the new man in.

12.44 IST: OUT! The 47-run stand is broken. Kuldeep Yadav it is and he gets his second of the match. Leg spinner pitched outside off, Hope goes onto his back foot and looks to work this to the on side. Gets beaten by the turn and is struck on his back leg. The Indians appeal and up goes the finger. This will give Yadav a lot of confidence. WI 79/1 in 19 Overs

12.40 IST: SIX! SHOT! Picks it up early and lofts this over mid on for a biggie. Loopy ball on middle and leg, Shai comes down and smokes this over the fence. The partnership moves to 44 now and they and really looking positive. WI 78/1 in 17.4 Overs

12.38 IST: FOUR! Byes! Misses his line. Ashwin gives this one air down the leg side. Hope goes for the sweep but fails to make contact. Pant cannot get to his left quickly and the ball rolls to the fine leg fence. WI 72/1 in 17.3 Overs

12.13 IST: SIX! Playing fire with fire. Loopy ball on middle, Powell charges down the track and lofts it over mid-wicket for a biggie. WI 39/1 in 9.2 Overs

12.11 IST: Play Resumes, Ashwin comes to bowl the first over after lunch. WI 33/1 in 9 Overs

"Ravichandran Ashwin was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts taking 4 wickets. He also provided the breakthrough for them in their second innings. The Windies have capable batsmen in their ranks but need to apply themselves. A tough task ahead for them as the Indians are getting the ball to turn. Will the match end today itself? We shall wait and watch. Join us for the second session at 12.10 local

11.32 IST: 1st Test, Day 3: West Indies 181 & 33/1 at Lunch against India (649/9d) in Rajkot.  Ashwin 1/15, Powell 21*

"Shai Hope is in at no.3. Also, Kuldeep Yadav is to bowl his first over.

11.28 IST: OUT! That's the first one and Ashwin gets his man. Brathwaite looked to take him on in the previous ball and got lucky. This time Ashwin bowls it slower through the air and gets his reward. Tosses this one on middle and leg. Brathwaite looks to turn his bat to the on side but it goes to Shaw at short leg who takes a sharp catch. WI 32/1 in 8 Overs

11.23 IST: FOUR! Nice from Powell. Already has 2 boundaries and now gets his third. Bowls this on a back of a length ball on the leg side. Powell hops and tucks it away behind square leg to the fence.  WI 28/0 in 6.4 Overs

11.20 IST: Maiden Over! Ashwin bowls a tight maiden over to Windies skipper Brathwaite. WI 22/0 in 6 Overs

11.17 IST: Four! BRILLIANT! Overpitched, wide outside off and Powell does not miss. Reaches out and drives it with elegance through the covers for a boundary. WI 22/0 in 5 Overs

11.09 IST: FOUR! Full and on the pads, Brathwaite flicks it through mid-wicket for a boundary! WI 17/0 in 2.4 Overs

11.05 IST: SIX! Much better from Powell. Uses his feet early, is decisive, gets to the pitch of the ball and lofts it massively over long on. Excellent connection.. WI 13/0 in 1.5 Overs

10.59 IST: NO BALL! A gift for Brathwaite first up. Shami oversteps by a massive margin and bowls a gentle half volley on middle. Brathwaite clips it through mid-wicket and gets a couple. WI 3/0 in 0 Overs.

* The innings has been done and dusted in 48 overs. Apart from the Chase-Paul stand this morning, India have simply not had to break any sweat. The most bowlers bowled were 11 by Umesh and Ashwin each.

10.46 IST: OUT! And that's a wrap for the Windies' first innings. Easily stumped. The carrom ball becomes the undoing of Gabriel after playing out almost the whole over watchfully. The ball is tossed up outside off and Shannon is drawn forward to defend. He misses the line comprehensively and almost as a reflex action, his feet come out of the crease. He tries to get his left foot back but by that time Pant has whipped off the bails. It always looked out to the naked eye but Ian Gould at square leg did not want to take any chances. INDIA LEAD BY 468 AND HAVE ENFORCED THE FOLLOW-ON.

10.42 IST: FOUR! Nice shot. Full and down the leg side, Bishoo looks to sweep but gets a top edge which lobs over square leg. Just about manages to reach the ropes.

10.40 IST: FOUR! Full and outside off, Bishoo gets down and mows it through mid-wicket for a boundary. Moves to 12 with his second boundary. WI 174/9 in 45.4 overs

10.36 IST: FOUR! Sweep shot played by Bishoo on Jadeja's delivery. You will not die wondering. Full and outside off, Gabriel swings wildly, is nowhere near the pitch of the ball and misses. The ball misses the stumps and beats the keeper to the fine leg fence. Everyone is smiling after that shot. Reminds us of the days when Muttiah Muralidaran used to bat. WI 168/9 in 44.2 overs

10.35 IST: FOUR BYES! WI 163/9 in 44 overs

* Shannon Gabriel walks in at number 11. He is slowly trudging out, with a smile...

10.33 IST: OUT! Ashwin removes Lewis for 0. That is a beauty and Ashwin has his third. After bowling two offies, setting the tail-ender up, he bowls a carrom ball. Too good for Lewis. He looks to defend but is squared up and the ball hits the off stump. WI 159/8 in 43.5 overs

10.29 IST: OUT! Ashwin removes Chase for 53. DRAGGED ON! beautiful bowling. Full and outside off, a touch wide, enticing the batsman to drive. Chase obliges, reaches out but then the ball spins in, takes the inside edge and hits the stumps. A watchful knock comes to an end. West Indies 159/8 in 43.2 overs

10.25 IST: EDGED, BUT DROPPED! A touch short outside off, Chase goes back to cut. Gets an outside edge but Rishabh Pant behind is unable to adjust to the bounce. Gets hit on the glove and the ball lobs in the air, but wide of Rahane at first slip. Pant rushes across to his right, puts in a dive but in vain.

10.21 IST: Ashwin is brought in place of Kuldeep. Not surprising. Kuldeep has been expensive this morning, going for 43 in his 6.

10.16 IST: FIFTY! Roston Chase scores his 6th half-century. A calm knock under pressure by Roston. His team is in dire straits but he has not been absorbed by it. Full and outside off, Chase leans and drives it down the ground. Long on is in place but he has no chance. WI 157/7 in 39.5 overs

10.13 IST: FOUR! Kuldeep is back and is not learning from his mistakes. Full and outside off, Chase reaches out and drives it through the covers for a boundary! Moves to within a hit of a half century. Will he get there? WI 151/7 in 39.1 overs

10.10 IST: OUT! Umesh removes Paul for 47. The dangerous Paul is dismissed, just 3 short of his maiden Test fifty. End of a wonderful knock. The bowler is also sensing it as for the first time in 7 wickets, we have seen someone celebrating or roaring. Clearly India were getting frustrated and are pumped up now. A short ball outside off, Paul instantly looks to pull. But the pace of Umesh does him in. He is not able to time his shot properly and the ball gently lobs towards mid-wicket. Cheteshwar Pujara comes running a few paces and takes a good catch. West Indies 147/7 in 38.3 overs

10.08 IST: FOUR! Another one off the outside edge. Full and outside off, Paul comes forward and looks to defend, but with soft hands. The ball takes the edge but the ball goes onto the ground and escapes the man at gully. All the way to the third man fence. The stand is worth 73 now, from 80 balls. WI 147/6 in 38.3 overs

10.05 IST: SIX! Boom and Paul is having a good day. Paul is putting on a show here. The leg spinner again, pitched up, outside off, Paul gets down and launches into it. Slog sweeps it over mid-wicket and the ball sails over the ropes. Moves to 43 from 45 deliveries in a stand of 68. Wow. WI 142/6 in 37.5 overs

10.03 IST: Maiden over by Umesh. Good length and keeps Paul on stand.

10.00 IST: What a ball. On a length just outside off, Paul looks to defend but then the ball moves away, just past the outside edge.

* Umesh is brought into the attack

09.58 IST: FOUR! Massive! Kuldeep is being taken to the cleaners here. Full and around middle, Chase comes forward and lofts it as clean as a whistle over mid-wicket for a boundary! Kuldeep has gone for 30 in his 4 overs this morning.

09.56 IST: FOUR! First shot in anger from Chase this morning. Full and outside off, Roston gets down and sweeps it behind square on the leg side for a boundary! WI 131/6 in 35.4 overs

09.53 IST: FOUR! A bit streaky but it is a boundary to raise the 50-run stand in just 55 balls. On a length outside off, Paul gets squared up a touch as he looks to defend. After facing two incoming deliveries, this one moved away and hence the squaring up. But the outside edge dies down and runs wide of gully to the third man fence. WI 127/6 in 34.3 overs

09.51 IST:  Looks to swing this to the leg side but gets beaten by the spin. The ball goes off the inner half of the bat towards deep mid-wicket. A single taken and this partnership is worth 49 now.

09.49 IST: FOUR! Paul seems to be getting the hang of it. A full delivery by Kuldeep and he get's hammered.  Plenty of width outside off, pretty full, Paul uses his range, gets to the pitch of the ball with a lunge and drives it powerfully past a diving cover for a boundary! WI 122/6 in 33.1 overs

09.47 IST: FOUR BYES! Lucky once again. Paul playing on thin ice here. Shami struggles to control the swing on this occasion. Bowls it way down the leg side and even though Paul cannot connect his attempted flick, it is too wide for the diving Pant as the ball races to his left to the fine leg fence. WI 117/6 in 32.5 overs

09.46 IST: FOUR! Interesting tactic from Paul. He has noticed that the ball is reversing and is trying to counter it by walking down the pitch. He does so here, but Shami bowls it wide outside off. Pretty full, the drive is attempted again and this time the outside edge is induced. But it goes wide of gully to the third man fence. WI 113/6 in 32.4 overs

09.45 IST: DIRECT HIT WOULD HAVE HAD PAUL! Kuldeep has his hands on his head. That would have been the second run out of the innings. Full and outside off, Chase pushes it to the off side and then calls his partner through. Paul responds but is a bit late to take off. Kuldeep Yadav gets across to his left from cover, collects the ball, takes aim and then has a shy at the striker's end with Keemo not even halfway down the pitch. Misses.

09.42 IST: NEARLY A CHANCE! That would have been a weird dismissal. Short and outside off, Paul goes back and looks to cut. But the ball spins back in sharply and cramps him for room. He is hit on the right glove and the ball lobs in the air. Prithvi Shaw dives to his left at short leg but cannot get there.

09.39 IST: Full and wide outside off, Chase reaches out and drives it wide of mid off for a couple.

09.34 IST: FOUR! Another sweep shot played. 10 runs off the 1st over of the day. Full and around off, Paul gets down and clobbers the sweep past Prithvi Shaw at short leg. There is a man at long leg but before he can run 5 paces, the ball is past him to the square leg boundary! WI 104/6 in 30 overs

09.33 IST: LUCKY! Keemo looks to go through the off side again, aiming to force it off his back foot but the ball spins in, sticks off the pitch, takes the inside edge and misses the stumps and goes to Virat Kohli at leg slip!

09.32 IST: FOUR! Paul begins the day with a boundary.Fuller and around off, Paul gets down and sweeps it through mid-wicket for a boundary! WI 98/6 in 29.2 overs

09.29 IST: Nice to see Kohli smiling. He is with his teammates in a huddle and seems to be giving some instructions. Now, the players disperse. Out walk Roston Chase and Keemo Paul.  Kuldeep Yadav will begin proceedings for the day. Paul to face. Here we go!

09.23 IST: Top of the morning to you all and the weekend kicks off with plenty firecrackers on it's way. India will hopefully put this match to rest by today. Windies have four wickets left and are stuttering at 94/6.

09.00 IST: The opening batsmen were clueless against the guile of Shami while the middle order was consumed by spin. Then of course, some generosity was produced as well in a run-out and a wild shot. Overall, nothing much to describe in the tourists' batting, except for Roston Chase, who has shown the gumption to survive.

08.40 IST: Jadeja was on fire yesterday! He's already taken a wicket and is expected to add a few more. Here's what he had to say at the post-match PC.

Hello and welcome to our live coverage of today's match. Play will commence from 9.30 AM IST and right from the start, you can expect India to go out with all guns blazing. Stay tuned for more updates.

Brief Report: Virat Kohli and Ravindra Jadeja ravaged a clueless West Indian attack with strokeful hundreds as India headed towards a demolishing win with another near-perfect performance on day two of the first cricket Test. The hosts piled up 649/9 in their first innings before reducing West Indies to 94 for six in 29 overs when stumps were drawn for the day.
