Benazir Bhutto was the first woman to head a political party in Pakistan after her father's assassination. She was the first female Prime Minister of Pakistan. Benazir Bhutto was the first woman to lead an Islamic nation. 

There was much controversy as to her appointment by the ulemas, but gradually, Benazir was able to calm down the unrest that was taking place.

Benazir Bhutto knew how to take her place in a dignified manner. She was able to win hearts of millions of her countrymen. It was no mean achievement given the fact that she belonged to a nation that is so reluctant to give females their rightful place.
