Ayla was born in Mianwali district in South Punjab on 6th October, 1970. She received her education from Esena foundation in Lahore.

She further went on to study in Froebel's International School, Islamabad. Ayla Malik completed her Bachelor's degree in English Literature, Sociology and Journalism from Islamabad College for Girls.

She further went on to study Economics at Moscow State University.

Ayla Malik's primary interest has always been politics. Before immersing herself completely in this field, she conducted a Current Affairs program.

It was called “Situation Room with Ayla Malik” on Dunya News.

Through this show, Ayla came into public limelight as Dunya News channel is very popular in Pakistan. This program used to be telecast at least two times every week.
