New Delhi, May 8: A three-judge bench of Supreme court will today decide on the CBI director's affidavit in the Coalgate scam which clearly mentions that Law Minister Ashwani Kumar and senior PMO officials had altered the draft CBI probe report despite the apex court's ruling.




The bench comprising Justice R M Lodha, Justice Kurian Joseph and Justice Madan B. Lokur will hearthe  PIL on coal scam.

The apex court will look into the nine-page  affidavit filed by Director CBI and the status report consisting original draft report  and revised final report given in a sealed cover.

CBI director has revealed that important changes have been made at the instance of Law Minister, Attorney General and officials of PMO and coal ministry.

While all eyes of the nation will be on the bench's reaction on revelation made by cbi that Law minister had altered the draft report as well as could spell trouble for the government's top law officer. Cbi has said that Attorney general glanced through two status reports on March 6 and even suggested changes, a claim Vahanwati has denied both inside and outside of the court.


SC had asked six question to Director Cbi on April 30. Director in his affidavit answers it while seeking unconditional apology for any inadvertent omission or commission on his part.

Cbi Director has said in his affidavit that there is nothing in the CBI manual to guide whether status reports of ongoing investigation are to be shared with others. Departmental circulars and government instructions are also silent on this point.
