Tamil Nadu: Petrol bomb hurled at BJP leader's house in Coimbatore

At the time of the attack, the BJP leader was inside his house with family. Two of his cars parked outside caught fire in the incident.

A petrol bomb was hurled at the residence of district BJP chief CR Nandkumar in Tamil Naud's Coimbatore late last night. At the time of the attack, the BJP leader was inside his house with family. Two of his cars parked outside caught fire in the incident.

CCTV footage of the scene shows that unknown persons crossing the house on a motorcycle at around 2.45 am. A few moments later a man wearing helmet climbs over the wall of Nandkumar's house and throws the petrol bomb on the Innova car parked there. The local police have registered a complaint in the case and have started an investigation. 

The attack comes a day after a statue of Tamil icon Periyar was vandalised in Pudukkottai.

In a similar incident earlier, a petrol bomb was hurled at the BJP office in Coimbatore on March 7. A day prior to that, police had arrested a BJP supporter for vandalising Tamil icon Periyar's statue. 

The police had arrested three supporters of Dravid Periyar Kadgam Party for the attack on BJP office. BJP leader Nandkumar alleged that the same party was also responsible for the fresh attacks on his house.
