Babul Supriyo calls Mamata Banerjee 'abnormal'

A day after West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee accused the BJP of using 'Jai Shri Ram' slogan for political gains, Union Minister Babul Supriyo Monday said Asansol constituency will send 'Get Well Soon' cards to Banerjee. The cards will be sent to Banerjee as she is rattled by the presence of Bharatiya Janata Party in the state, the minister said.

Though Banerjee is an experienced politician, her behaviour is 'abnormal and bizarre', Babul Supriyo said in response to Banerjee's reaction on 'Jai Shri Ram' slogans.

"She should keep in mind the dignity of the post she holds. She should take a break for a few days,” said Supriyo, who was elected as Member of Parliament (MP) from Asansol in West Bengal for a second term.

“She is the cause for so many memes on social media, it is not good for anyone. From my constituency Asansol, we will send 'get well soon' cards to Mamata Banerjee. Something is definitely not well with Didi, and she needs to answer that,” he added.

Earlier on Sunday, the TMC chief had slammed the BJP in a Facebook post, accusing it of using religious slogan Jai Sri Ram as their party slogan.

"Jai Sia Ram, Jai Ram ji ki, Ram Naam Satya hai etc. have religious and social connotations. We respect these sentiments. But BJP is using religious slogan Jai Sri Ram as their party slogan in a misconceived manner by way of mixing religion with politics," she said in her post.

The West Bengal CM also urged people to refrain from any sort of chaos and unrest.

"I appeal to all the people of the country and the state to give a befitting reply to hatred politics and show respect to our country's glorious culture and heritage. Let us all be proud of our culture and heritage. Jai Hind, Jai Bangla, Joyo He," she added.

The Trinamool chief accused the BJP of trying to spread the ideology of hatred through a section of the media.

"The so-called BJP media and so-called fake video, fake news, misinformation and disinformation to create confusion and to suppress truth and reality," Banerjee wrote.
