The incident took place on Tuesday in Rajarampur village under Labhpur police station of Birbhum district in West Bengal in which a 20-year old tribal girl was gang raped by 12 men as a punishment for having an affair with a youth who did not belong to her community.

What came as bigger shock in this case was the fact that the gang rape was ordered by local tribal villagers who had assembled at a community meeting to mete out punishment to the girl for what they called her 'crime'.
