Afzal Guru wakes up early in the morning and begins his day with namaz. For breakfast, he drinks half-a-litre milk.His food is served according to the jail manual.


 
Afzal Guru undergoes a medical check-up almost every week, which is the norm in the jail.
 
Unlike other prisoners, the gate to Guru's ward remains open all the time. At times, he interacts with the Tamil Nadu policemen who guard his cell.
 
Afzal Guru is allowed to take a round in the garden outside his cell but in the company of the policemen, the source said.
 
As far as official interaction is concerned, only the director general (DG), prisons, and deputy inspector general, prisons, can talk to Guru. If the jail superintendent has to talk to him, he has to seek permission from the DG, the source said.
