Already having won the series, the last Test turned out to be a cherry on the cake for the Indian team as they registered their fourth consecutive win over England in the five-match series.

It was spinner Ravindra Jadeja who led the home team to a miraculous victory on the last day of the final Test against the Englishmen at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Trailing by 282 runs, the visiting team was looking to head for a draw till lunch (97/0), but then Jadeja ripped off England's batting as he went on take seven wickets, handing his team a huge win of an innings and 75 runs.

Having already conceded the five-match series, England had their backs to the wall on the penultimate evening after Karun Nair notched up an incredible 303 to put the hosts in a commanding position, from where they could gun for a 4-0 series win. 

India scored a mammoth 759/7 declared in their first innings in reply to England's 477.

India's second triple centurion Karun Nair was named the Man of the Match for his sensational innings of 303 not out. Skipper Virat Kohli was declared Man of the Series for scoring a total of 655 runs in the five-match series.

Team India's winning streak continues 

Skipper Virat Kohli, in his short run of captaincy, has taken the Indian team to newer heights. Not only the boys have won their fifth consecutive Test series under him, but have also remained unbeaten in the last 18 Tests they played, a new landmark for Indian cricket.

Earlier, India's longest unbeaten run was of 17 Tests.

 

In 2016, Virat has led India to victory against West Indies, New Zealand and now England. He has also impressed one and all with his bat as he scored a double ton in each of the three series.

Team India will play their next Test against Bangladesh in 2017.
