Suresh Khanna is a senior member of the Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP). He is a cabinet minister in the Yogi Adityanath government. He currently serves as the Cabinet Minister for Finance, Parliamentary affairs and Medical Education Departments in the Uttar Pradesh government. He represents the Shahjahanpur constituency of Uttar Pradesh. He was in news recently for backing deputy chief minister Keshav Prasad Maurya’s controversial tweet about a grand Krishna temple at the Hindu holy city of Mathura being part of the Hindutva brigade’s unfinished agenda. Ahead of the crucial Uttar Pradesh assembly elections due early next year, the state leadership has charged him with preparing the party manifesto. The manifesto is based on the theme of 'Sabka Sath, Sabka Vishwas'. He chaired the meeting held on December 5 to discuss the party manifesto. In the upcoming Uttar Pradesh assembly elections 2022, the party may again give him the ticket from Shahjahanpur constituency of Uttar Pradesh. He is a prominent face in the party and in the state, handling several portfolios of the cabinet. In addition, where political parties are going all out to strengthen their caste-centric vote banks, Khanna belongs to the Khatri community which has been a traditional supporter of the BJP.
