Why is Narendra Modi dying for US visa, asks Renuka Chaudhary (India TV Exclusive)

New Delhi, Aug 1: Renuka Chaudhary is one of the most articulate spokespersons of the Congress party. She never minces words in criticizing her opponents but at the same time,  is always effusive in her

Q: Will you fight elections from Khammam this time?

Renuka:
Of course! I'm   daughter of a fauji. I'm always ready. If the party high command decides then I'm ready to fight the elections.

Q: Coming to UP, you know it will play the biggest role in 2014 elections and Rahul is also trying his best to recover ground for the party. But UP politics is completely polarized between SP and BSP. What space do you see for Congress in the state?

Renuka: See, democracy does not tolerate vacuum. The people have seen both Mulayam and Mayawati in UP. There is a vacuum and Rahul ji has worked for years in the state. You just see what happens there.

Q:  It is said that you have used or misused CBI for getting support of both Mulayam and Mayawati. Mulayam Singh has said it on record. How would you react to this?

Renuka: Do you think Mulayam is a kid and Mayawati is so innocent that they could not understand the politics? When CBI suits them, it's very good. When CBI doesn't not suit them, it becomes very bad. Is there any substance in charges leveled against them or not? Just because we are ruling party, we can't interfere in CBI's functioning. CBI attacks even our own people. Had we interfered , we could have saved our own people.

Q: DMK decided to withdraw support and there was raid next morning. Supreme Court went to the extent of branding CBI as ‘caged parrot'.

Renuka:  I will not say anything on what SC said. So far as DMK is concerned, the raids had nothing to do with politics. Departments take their own decisions. Politically, it hurt us more and not the DMK.
