The couple had checked into separate rooms - 342 (Tharoor) and 345 (Sunanda) at Hotel Leela Palace on Thursday, a day after Sunanda accused her husband of cheating on her in an extramarital affair involving Pakistani journalist Mehr Tarar.

The ostensible reason given was that a paint job was going on at the official bungalow of the minister.

Tharoor was busy the whole day at Talkatora stadium attending the AICC meet, while Sunanda stayed in the hotel, in an obviously distressing mental state.
