Chittagong: Sri Lanka's Ajantha Mendis claimed six wickets as Bangladesh was bowled out for 426 in its first innings on Friday, 161 runs short of Sri Lanka's total.

Mendis took the last two wickets, dismissing Mahmudullah and Al-Amin Hossain after the hosts resumed on day four at 409-8. Mendis finished with 6-99 while Dilruwan Perera took 3-119.

Mahmudullah could not add any runs to his overnight total of 30 and was out to the fourth ball of the day. Abdur Razzak played through his hamstring injury and remained not out on 11.

Maiden centuries from Shamsur Rahman and Imrul Kayes helped Bangladesh to avoid follow-on, but the hosts finished well short of Sri Lanka's 587, in which Kumar Sangakkara scored his first triple century.
