A dog attacked a 6-year-old child leaving him injured at Noida society on Thursday. The child was taken to a private hospital after the incident.
The incident happened at Lotus Panash Society, under the Phase-2 police station area.
A case was filed by the police against the owner of the dog and a probe is underway.
Dog-attacking cases have increased in the last couple of months in Delhi-NCR. The local authorities issued several guidelines for the bet owners at the residential societies and strict actions provisions were included in the fresh norms but to no avail. The dog-attacking incidents are still happening.
Ghaziabad boy dies of rabies over a month after dog bite
15 days ago a 14-year-old boy who was bitten by a dog over a month before and hid the incident from his parents died of rabies in Ghaziabad.
Shahvaz, a student of class 8, died on Monday evening when he was being brought back to Ghaziabad from Bulandshahr, where he was taken for treatment after his condition deteriorated, the police said.
A complaint has been lodged in the matter and action will be taken against the dog owner, said Assistant Commissioner of Police, Kotwali zone, Nimish Patil.
Delhi High Court on stray dog menace
The Delhi High Court on Septeber 15 said the stray dog menace in the national capital is a serious issue which needs to be addressed with urgency and asked the municipal commissioner to take appropriate action.
The high court’s direction came while quashing two FIRs lodged against a woman, who is a philanthropist and an animal lover, on the allegation that her dogs had bitten a man and his father on different occasions in 2014.
The court quashed the FIRs after the parties- the woman and her neighbours- amicably settled the issue last year.
“The parties are neighbours living in the same vicinity. The dispute between the parties is predominantly private in nature and the parties have amicably settled all their disputes. In the interest of justice it would be better to put a quietus to the dispute. The chances of conviction would also be bleak, given that the parties do not wish to pursue the present complaints on account of the settlement.
“I do not see any reason to reject the settlement. However, the issue of stray dog menace is a serious issue, which needs to be addressed with urgency by the concerned authority.
Let a copy of this order be sent to Commissioner, MCD for taking appropriate action,” Justice Dinesh Kumar Sharma said.
