Security forces including the army, paramilitary forces, and the J-K Police are aggressively fighting terrorists, by destroying their hideouts, and arresting over-ground workers and sympathisers of the terrorists.
The case came to light in 2020 after drugs and cash were confiscated from a car intercepted by the Police in Handwara. The case was taken over by the NIA later whose investigation revealed that funds were raised by selling the narcotics which were, in turn, used for terrorism.

Indian Army said that under Operation GUSHI, a Mobile Vehicle Interception Post was established at Gushi Bridge in Kupwara. Four hand Grenades, one Pistol with ammunition along with other incriminating materials were recovered.
