On 16 August this year, Vajpayee passed away at the age of 93 at the All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) in New Delhi following a prolonged illness.

Born on December 25, 1924, Vajpayee passed away on August 16.

Asserting that Pakistan was serious to develop peaceful ties with all its neighbours, Khan claimed India was not ready to hold talks with the country due to the upcoming general elections.

PM Narendra Modi, BJP president Amit Shah handed over 36 urns with Vajpayee's ashes to party leaders at a function held at the party's old office at 11 Ashoka Road in New Delhi.

The late Prime Minister's ashes will be immersed at the confluence of Mahanadi, Pairi and Sondur river in Ranjim.

The meeting is being held a day after the immersion of a part of former PM's ashes in holy River Ganges at Haridwar.
