Arvind Kejriwal was the Delhi Chief Minister thrice: from 2013 to 2014 (for 49 days), 2015 to 2020, and again from 2020 to 2024. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader has been representing the New Delhi Assembly constituency since 2013, when he won the seat by defeating the incumbent Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit with a margin of 25,864 votes. He won the seat in 2015 and 2020. In the 2015 Delhi Assembly Election, Kejriwal defeated the Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) Nupur Sharma by 31,583 votes. Congress candidate and former Delhi minister Kiran Walia stood third. Kejriwal retained his seat in 2020 by defeating BJP candidate Sunil Kumar Yadav with a margin of 21,697 votes. Kejriwal is again contesting from New Delhi in the upcoming Delhi Assembly Election 2025 against BJP's Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma and Congress candidate and son of Sheila Dikshit, Sandeep Dikshit. Arvind Kejriwal also contested the Lok Sabha elections in 2014 against Narendra Modi from Varanasi but lost by a massive margin of 3,71,784 votes.
