This get-rich-quick process could have continued, but for a single mistake. One of them left behind his cellphone during burglary inside Ben Hur Apartments.

Sandy is the son of a restaurateur, staying in Ratan Ganga complex, Versova, while Prashant Arora, son of a lady school teacher,  stayed in Starship Tower, Oshiwara, and Akash Mitra, son of a small-time music composer stayed in Munish Tower in Oshiwara.

The three used to get pocket money from their parents, but this was inadequate to fund their drug habits.

Oshiwara senior police inspector Nasir Pathan says, the modus operandi was quite elaborate.  

The three first studied the modus operandi of Sultan Gang. They read newspaper reports about the Sultan gang's operations, and since they were familiar with the residents and layout of most of the societies, nobody suspected them.
