“Akhil took the rape victim to Shanti Vatika where the alleged sexual offence took place in 2001. The police believe that the cook is a star witness in the case as he was present at the spot.

"His statement under CrPC 164 is admissible in court and this can make a strong case against Asaram,” said a police official.

Akhil  has confessed that he took the victim to Asaram's room. “His wife Varsha also stayed at the ashram when the incident took place,” police said.
