New Delhi: Government is committed to assure 24x7 electricity supply to every house hold by bringing in transformative reforms in the sector, Power and Coal Minister Piyush Goyal said on Sunday.

He said the government is working towards providing power to the last man standing in the country and has commenced taking various measures for the same.

"We have ensured speedy environmental clearances and steps to protect the environment, renewed thrust to wind power capacity addition and cleared long-pending transmission projects worth Rs 12,272 crore," Goyal said. Together it would be a major step forward for our vision of 24x7 consistent power, he said at a conference to mark the 100 days of the Narendra Modi-led government. Green Energy Corridor for evacuation of renewable power is being expedited as well, he said.

This government is committed to bring about a transformative change in the power sector and ensure affordable 24x7 power for all homes, industrial & commercial establishments and adequate power for farms. Coalbased electricity generation from June to August 2014 grew by nearly 21% compared to corresponding period last year.

Even coal production has grown by 9% in August 2014 as compared to August 2013.

Coal India has given in-principle decision to purchase 250 additional rakes for Rs 5,000 crore to evacuate more coal.

The minister, who also holds charge of the New and Renewable Energy said, he has resolved anti-dumping duty dispute of solar components, so as to give greater impetus to "Made in India" solar energy equipment.

The government has also announced Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana with an estimated investment of Rs 43,000 crore for feeder separation of agriculture and domestic usage, and strengthening of transmission and distribution infrastructure in rural areas.
