Vir Das puts off his show in Bengaluru after Hindu Janajagruti Samiti demanded police to cancel the show and claimed that the comedian ‘hurts religious sentiments of Hindus.’
Vir Das has landed himself in trouble yet again. Mumbai Police registered an FIR against the comedian, streaming platform Netflix and more. No arrest has been made so far, he said, adding that an investigation is on into the case.
Vir Das controversy: In a complaint to the Vyalikali police station on Monday, the Samiti leaders said that they had information that Vir Das is holding a show at Chowdiah Memorial Hall in Malleshwaram, Bengaluru.
Soon after the post, fans flooded Vir Das' comments section and came up with their own theories. While some said that the couple must have broken up, others believed that he was too afraid to do it.
Vir Das shared with his fans that he has tested positive for Covid-19. Das had earlier tested positive for the virus in January this year.
Comedian Vir Das shared a post on Hollywood actor Will Smith's visit to India after the latter landed himself in controversy for slapping comedian Chris Rock at the Oscars.
"Someone needs to do a will Smith on this one. He would totally deserve it too," a user told Vir Das. The comedian responded saying he 'slaps back'. Reacting to it, Alia Bhatt's mom and actress Soni Razdan gave a fitting reply to Vir Das. Check it out here.
Vir took to his Instagram handle on Wednesday night and shared a still from his comic scene from the film 'Namastey Londo.' Further, he shared, "15 yrs ago today, just a kid, over the moon to have one scene and 5 lines in a movie, first time on screen. #NamasteLondon."
As per The Kyiv Independent, a Ukraine media outlet, three comedians performed for about 100 viewers in one of the bomb shelters in Sumy, a regional capital in northern Ukraine, on March 19. Sharing the particular news, Vir Das took to Twitter and dropped a few clapping hand emojis.
"Shehnaaz Gill has been approached to be part of Kangana Ranaut’s Lock Upp and she even agreed to do it," claims a report. More names include Divyanka Tripathi, Manav Gohil, Hina Khan, Shweta Tiwari, Surbhi Jyoti, Urfi Javed among others.
On January 11, Vir Das said he had tested positive for COVID-19 with mild symptoms. He has now tested COVID negative. He informed the same writing, "Wear a mask, get boosted, take your vitamins, drink snake blood. whatever. It was a LONG two-ish weeks (sic)."
Sharing the update about being COVID-19 positive, Vir Das shared a post on Instagram and captioned it, "Feeling good. Symptoms very minor. Gonna chill for a bit. Peace."
Stand-up comedian and actor Vir Das recently made headlines for his ‘Two India’ monologue. Now, another video of him from On Whitney Cummings' Good For You podcast by appearance is going viral on social media platforms. In the short video clip, he is seen praising superstar Shah Rukh Khan.
India was hoping to recreate the magic in the best drama category after the win of Netflix series "Delhi Crime" last year with "Aarya". But the Disney+ Hotstar series, directed by Ram Madhvani and starring Sushmita Sen, was bested by Israel's "Tehran" in the segment.
Recently, Vir Das made headlines for his video on YouTube, titled 'I come from two Indias' that was a part of his recent performance at the John F Kennedy Center in Washington. In the six-minute-long video that Vir uploaded on his YouTube channel on November 15, he could be heard contrasting the dark sides of India by taking a dig at issues like -- its battle against COVID-19, gang rapes, farmers' protest and more.

Vir Das's comic take on Indian history, 'Vir Das: For India', made way for yet another Netflix acquisition, 'Call My Agent: Season 4.' Meanwhile, Nawazuddin Siddiqui lost out to Scottish actor David Tennant.
International Emmy Awards 2021: Nawazuddin Siddiqui was nominated in the Best Performance By An Actor category for his Netflix's Serious Men, while Vir Das' comedy special on Netflix, Vir Das: For India, was nominated in the Comedy Segment. International Emmys 2021 was presented to programmes in 16 categories, which include non-English language shows.
