Asian Games 2023 Highlights: Athletes continue to do well as India win 7 medals on Day 9, tally reaches 60

The day started for India with a historic bronze in women's doubles table tennis and it finished with a Silver medal in mixed 4x400m relay as the Indian contingent added seven medals to the tally on Monday, October 2. The tally has reached 60 now with 13 Gold, 24 Silver and 23 Bronze medals.

Asian Games 2023 Highlights: Track and Field athletes continue to do well as India win 7 medals on Day 9, tally reaches 60

Medals continued to be added to India's tally in the 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, which is now 60 after nine days. The track and field athletes made the world sit up and take notice on Sunday, October with nine out of 15 medals for India and they continued their impressive run with four out of seven medals on Day 9. A total of four bronze and three silver medals were added to India's tally as rollerskating contributed to a couple of them in team events, the table tennis duo of Ayhika Mukherjee and Sutirtha Mukherjee won a historic bronze in women's doubles and then came the athletes.

A silver for Ancy Sojan in the long jump, a double podium finish in the 3000m steeplechase and a silver in the 4x400m mixed team steeplechase. There was no Gold for India on the day, however, medals are expected more in several other events as the Asian Games go into final five days.

    Bronze becomes Silver for 4x400m mixed relay team

    Team Sri Lanka has been disqualified for lane infringement and hence India quartet - Muhammed Ajmal, Vithya Ramraj, Rajesh Ramesh and Subha Venkatesan - moves to second spot in the final and the medal has been upgraded to Silver.

    The medals tally has touched 60 now as the Indian athletes added seven more to the overnight tally of 53. 16 Gold, 23 Silver and 24 Bronze.

    Another medal is confirmed. India's 4X400 m mixed relay team has bagged Bronze as they finished third. This is 60th medal for India. The Indians were leading as they were in a Gold medal position during the midpoint. But Bahrain and Sri Lankan athletes overtook and India took a Bronze.

    And Ancy has improved her mark too. She has jumped 6.63m and has consolidated her second place. She is still 0.10m behind the leader Shiqi of China.

    Shaili Singh improves

    Shaili now improves in her 5th attempt. She makes a jump of 6.48, equal to what the 4th placed Sumire of Japan. But Shaili is in 5th as he second best jump is not better the the Japenese
