Singapore High Commissioner to India, Simon Wong on Wednesday said that they would wish to put an end to the episode where Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal made some irresponsible remarks about a Singapore strain of coronavirus but failed to ascertain fact, adding they were happy with the response of the Indian government that Delhi CM doesn't speak for India.

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar has said that Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal does not speak for India as the Singapore government on Wednesday conveyed to the Indian High Commissioner its strong objection to the latter's comments about a "Singapore variant" of Covid-19. Jaishankar said that Singapore and India have been solid partners in combating the pandemic and appreciated the country's role as a logistics hub and oxygen supplier.

Singapore has categorically dismissed Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's claim that a 'very dangerous' strain of the coronavirus was prevalent in island city-state and that could affect children the most. Singapore's diplomatic mission tweeted that there is no truth in the assertion of Kejriwal, adding that there is no Singapore variant.

Lockdown in Delhi has been further extended by a week, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Sunday. "We are extending the lockdown by one more week in Delhi," the chief minister said today. Delhi recorded 6,430 new COVID-19 cases and 337 more fatalities on Saturday while the positivity rate dipped to 11.32 per cent, authorities said. The national capital had recorded 8,506 new cases on Friday and a positivity rate of 12.40 per cent.

The national capital has reported 10,400 new Covid cases in the last 24 hours, the lowest since April 20, when the city had reported 28,395 cases, health officials said here on Thursday.
More importantly, Delhi's daily Covid positivity rate has also come down to 14 per cent, the lowest since April 22, when the positivity rate was at its peak at 36 per cent.

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi wherein he has thanked the Centre for providing over 700 MT of medical oxygen to the national capital amid soaring Covid-19 cases. Kejriwal has urged the Prime Minister to ensure a daily supply of 700 MT oxygen to the city.
"Delhi has a consumption of 700 metric tonnes of oxygen on a daily basis. We have been urging the Centre on a regular basis to give us 700 metric tonnes. It was for the first time yesterday that Delhi received 730 metric tonnes," he said in the letter.
