Bhopal, along with a few other constituencies of the state, goes to polls on May 12.

A few bottles of eye-drops, a jar of chyawanprash and several kernels of almonds -- no, there are not the contents of the list your mother would give you for better health. These are what Congress workers in Madhya Pradesh have been sending to former chief minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Shivraj Singh Chouhan.

Reason?

They say his eyesight and memory have weakened with age and over the time and he "needs" this stuff to get himself cured of all possible ailments he may be suffering from.

"He lies about farm loan waiver and the state government's decisions that have apparently helped the farmers. We wanted him to know the reality but it seems his eyesight and memory have weakened. We're sending this to cure him," one of the many Congress workers was quoted as saying by news agency ANI.

For the unversed, chyawanprash is a traditional mixture of sugar, honey, Indian gooseberry, sesame oil, and various herbs and spices -- and is consumed to improve to well-being. Almonds are considered to be a free-of-cost memory enhancers.

This is not the only zany phenomenon we came across from the central state.

Earlier in the day, an FIR was registered against a few persons who raised slogans supporting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, a senior BJP leader, at a rally hosted by Congress leader Digvijaya Singh in Bhopal.

Digvijaya Singh has been fielded by the Congress party from the Bhopal Lok Sabha constituency against Malegaon blasts-accused Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur.

Several police personnel were also reported to be wearing saffron scarves at the onset of the rally. When asked, one of the on-duty police personnel told news agency ANI that they were "made to wear this", following which objections were raised.
