Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal today questioned the Reserve Bank of India for the way it is distributing currency to various banks.
“Is currency being distributed by RBI to bank branches in fair manner?” Kejriwal tweeted.
Kejriwal was responding to some media reports which highlighted the anomaly in distribution of currency notes to different banks.
According to one such report, the RBI has distributed Rs 42 lakh to a bank in Rajasthan which has 4,000 customers following demonetisation.
However, the RBI reportedly dispensed Rs 3 lakh only to another bank in the same state with 35 branches and 1.5 lakh customer base.
