New Delhi: Delhi Police has quietly given a clean chit to the SHO of Uttam Nagar police station, who had asked a rape complainant to describe how she was sexually assaulted.

According to a police press release, a vigilance inquiry has revealed that the SHO met the girl only three times, and that too, in the presence of an NGO and women police officers.  This has been verified by both the child helpline person and the concerned NGO, the press relase said.

"The statement of the girl under Sec 164 CrPC on September 16 also did not mention about the sexual indiscretion(on part of the SHO). The statement of the girl has changed from the time of complaint. She had first alleged in the original sexual assault case that there was one person involved and then moved on to say, three and four.

"The statement of the girl's aunt also did not say the girl was sexually assaulted or harassed.  The SHO will be reinstated first at district lines, and then to the police station post from December 9th, as the Election Commission is now looking into the matter".
