Rajya Sabha chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar on Monday (December 18) suspended 45 Opposition MPs after they created a ruckus inside the Upper House, over the Parliament security breach incident that took place on December 13.
On December 13, two individuals jumped into the Lok Sabha chamber from the public gallery during Zero Hour. The duo released yellow gas from canisters, and shouted anti-establishment slogans.
Mallikarjun Kharge launched a scathing attack on the government after a total of 47 Opposition MPs were suspended from the Parliament, and said that the Modi government can now "bulldoze important pending legislations" and pass them without any debate.
The bill addresses concerns raised by industry players regarding the power of the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) and the regulation of over-the-top players. Government officials assert that these issues were resolved before the bill received Cabinet approval.

Two men jumped inside the Lok Sabha from the visitors' gallery above the chamber and threw smoke cannisters inside the Parliament on December 13, the day which marks the anniversary of the 2001 terror attack on Parliament.
The Delhi Police's Special Cell, which is investigating the case, also plans to record the statement of BJP MP Pratap Simha, who had authorised the visitor passes for the two men who breached security to enter the House.
Police is still trying to find out who funded these unemployed youths for their air travels and other expenses, and who gave these youths the main idea on how to barge inside Parliament.
The opposition leaders also alleged that the BJP-led government has reduced Parliament to a "rubber stamp" and is not ready to accept their demand for discussing the serious issue.
