Besides Mouma, P Anitha, Madhavan Nambiar, Sudha Hari Narayan Singh, Virender Singh, and KY Venkatesh have also been awarded the prestigious award in the sports category for the year.
President Ram Nath Kovind has approved the conferment of 119 Padma awards on the occasion of Republic Day. The list comprises 7 Padma Vibhushan, 10 Padma Bhushan and 102 Padma Shri awards.
The government on Friday announced to keep nominations for Padma Awards 2021, the highest civilian awards of the country, open till September 15 this year.
The prestigious Padma Award which was to be held on April 3 this year has now been postponed amidst the recent coronavirus outbreak.
The current World Championship bronze medallist and one of India's biggest medal hopes at the Tokyo Olympics, Vinesh hit out at the government accusing them of leaving out "deserving" candidates.
Among the Padma Vibhushan awardees are prominent names like former union ministers Arun Jaitley, Sushma Swaraj and George Fernandes. Sportspersons Mary Kom, PV Sindhu have been awarded Padma Vibhushan. From the entertainment world, film director Karan Johar, actress Kangana Ranaut, TV Producer Ekta Kapoor have featured in the list of Padma Shri awardees.
MC Mary Kom has been conferred the prestigious Padma Vibhushan, the country's second-highest civilian honour. And PV Sindhu has been awarded the Padma Bhushan, the country's third-highest civilian honour.
