According to the data compiled by the UP health department, made available to PTI, 1,317 children had died in the state-run facility so far this year.
According to hospital records, in January 152 children died, in February 122, March 159, April 123, May 139, June 137, July 128 and August 325, besides in September 32 children have died so far.
Dr Kafeel Khan was sacked by the state government six days back for not adhering to the norms of the Indian Medical Council.
Giving a month-wise break up, Singh said the toll in January was 152, in February 122, March 159, April 123, May 139, June 137, July 128 and August 325, besides 19 on the first day of September.
Rajeev and Poornima Mishra were arrested by the state police's Special Task Force from Kanpur two days back.
As many as 296 children died this month at the state-run Baba Raghav Das (BRD) Medical College Hospital in Gorakhpur, which has recorded 1,256 deaths since January.
The development comes close on the heels of a similar horror earlier this month when more than 60 children, including infants died at the hospital within a span of a week.
The Uttar Pradesh government had on August 12 suspended Rajiv Mishra for 'negligent behaviour'.

The IMA, which had called a suo motu inquiry into the deaths of over 70 children, said its team found out that the liquid oxygen supplier of the hospital had not been paid his dues since the last five months.
Siddharth Nath Singh said that all aspects related to the deaths at the state-run BRD medical college hospital were being probed by a panel led by UP chief secretary and promised that those found guilty would be punished.
Six more children have died from encephalitis since Saturday at state-run BRD Medical College Hospital in Gorakhpur.
The NHRC has sent a notice to the Uttar Pradesh government over the death of several children at BRD Medical College Hospital in Gorakhpur.
