The central character of the film is its antagonist Samundar Singh who stabbed Sister Rani Maria in 1995 while she was traveling in a bus from Indore to Udayanagar. Singh was 22 then and he stabbed Sister Maria more than 50 times.

Although Singh was sentenced to life imprisonment after conviction, he was released  in 2006 because of his good conduct.
