The video shows the 12-year old burnt Vidhu Jain groaning in pain on the ground. Vidhu Jain was found burnt on September 30 in an abandoned shop. He had left home on a cycle to give his younger brother his lunch box.

He was admitted to a hospital in Ludhiana where he later died. The people of  Malerkotla and Sangrur  protested and demanded justice for Vidhu, but the Punjab chief minister Parkash Singh Badal ruled out a CBI probe saying that the state police was equipped to deal with the matter.

The Punjab government had announced Rs. 25 lakh ex-gratia for  Vidhu's family.
