New Delhi, Jan 14: Haryana's former Home Minister Gopal Kanda is having a whale of a time inside the high-security Tihar jail here with foam mattress, warm water, blankets and sewadars being provided to the man who is in judicial custody in connection with air hostess Geetika Sharma suicide case. 

According to a newspaper report, Kanda, being an MLA, is being given VIP facilities inside the jail. He has been seen sipping tea and resting inside the jailor's office several times.

Even after the 'mulaqat' (meeting) time is over, Kanda is allowed to carry on his meetings with his relatives in the jailor's office, and this has been recorded on cctv cameras, the report said.  

Gopal Kanda has been given a separate bed inside his cell, wehreas as per Jail Manual, beds are provided to only those prisoners who are of 60 years of age and above.  

Two sevadars, from among undertrial prisoners, have been provided to Kanda to look after his personal needs.
